Children
love Christmas ... especially the part that includes Santa.
To brighten children's days, the CCJCs sent letters from
Santa to area children.
Jaycees
also brought together several area families to make
gingerbread houses. Jaycee Shannon
Shuey baked the houses and participants supplied candy.
Everyone had a great time and looks forward to doing it
again next year!
PTO Day
To
better support the Lee County Schools, we donated several
hours on December 8 to the Lee PTO Thrift Store.
We
volunteered at the store from 10 am to 1 pm. Afterwards,
everyone brought their children to the Shuey's house to decorate
gingerbread houses.
Turkey
Shoot
Our
7th annual Turkey Shoot began Oct. 19 and ran
through Nov. 17. Participants paid $3
per shot to qualify for a prize! Winners received
a turkey, chicken, sausage or pork chops.
Pop
A Top
We
collected the tabs from canned drinks and soups for
the Ronald McDonald House.
The
CCJCs worked with the children at Deep River Elementary
School on this project and collected more than 100,000
tops! The class that collected the most tabs won a party.
Bowl-A-Thon
The
10th annual Bowl-A-Thon was Oct.
10 from 6 pm - 9 pm at Kendale Bowling Lanes.
CCJCs
and community members bowled all evening for free
and collected more than $700 in donations . All proceeds benefited
Duke Cancer.
Gun
Education
CCJCs
gathered Saturday, Sept. 29 at Dr.
Knecht's office to take a gun education
and concealed weapons course conducted by Det. Larry Foster.
The course was $60 per person and included
some shooting.
Contact
us if you would be interested in taking this course in
the future.
Food
Drive
Our
recent Food Drive was a success! CCJCs collected
more than 300 paper bags and distributed them around several
Sanford area neighborhoods with instructions for families
to fill up the bag and set them outside.
We
then collected more than 100 bags of non-perishable
items and distributed them to Lifeline Recovery Mission's
Women's Home and the Bread Basket.
